Oriental Cabbage Salad

Oriental Cabbage Salad

A light, delicious cabbage salad filled with sesame seeds, almonds and sunflower seeds.

Ingredients
  

Main Salad

  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 4 green onions sliced
  • 2 cups chicken OPTIONAL, diced or shredded
  • 1 package Chicken Ramen Noodles
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds or cashews
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds

Dressing

  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 flavoring packet from the Ramen Noodles
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions
 

  • Prepare chicken, if using and place in a bowl. Add shredded cabbage.
  • Break noodles and place in a colander. Pour boiling water over the noodles to soften and add to the cabbage.
  • Add onions and sesame seeds.
  • Blend vinegar, oil, sugar, salt and Ramen seasoning to make the dressing.
  • Pour dressing over the cabbage and mix well.
  • Refrigerate for several hours.
  • Just before serving add nuts and sunflower seeds.

Talk about a simple recipe! You can whip this salad up in ten minutes flat and unlike other salads, this one gets better with time. It is one that you can prepare ahead and store in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

We love to add all sorts of nuts and seeds but you could literally add anything and it would taste delicious!
