This chocolate batter cake is such a simple recipe to make that it literally showed up at most family gatherings growing up. It was the dessert for every birthday and gathering. I don’t think many meals compare to this classic lasagna dish. This was a staple for my grandma who raised seven children. She never missed a homemade meal: breakfast, lunch or dinner. I wish I could say that I am in that same boat with my children, but I am not that stalwart a homemaker.
