Friday Faves: Date Night and Meal Planning

Friday Faves: Date Night and Meal Planning

I love spending time with my husband! We don’t get out enough, but when we do it is always a great time. For Christmas, he surprised me with tickets to Matilda. We both love Broadway shows and a date night with musical theater is always a good time.

I hadn’t yet experienced the new Eccles Theater in downtown Salt Lake and let me just tell you it is something exquisite! It is elegant, spacious and a fabulous reminder that the arts can be celebrated even in the world’s smaller cities.  We were fortunate to have very close seating and loved seeing the expressions and energy from the actors.

I was only familiar with Roald Dahl’s book Matilda, but have it on my shelf of must reads for my children. The musical, although similar absolutely captured the quirky and intense characters that you learned to love/hate in the book. The music was fabulous and the dancing so clever.

I will be singing the lyrics for weeks to come, but the message will stick with me forever. I love Matilda’s zeal to do what’s right and make life fair. She wasn’t afraid to stand up and let herself be heard.
